I have a friend at work who goes to pretty much every music festival that comes to Melbourne. She's seen pretty much every band play live, several times, and knows SO many underground local bands and no one has ever heard of. And she knows SO MUCH about music. I mention any random band, and she'll tell me when they started playing, how long they've been together for, how many albums they have etc. She's the kind of girl that checks out every band and knows and loves them before they get famous. I guess she's a hipster...except she's not snobby about it. I told her today that she is living the life I want to live. And she said this to me: "Jade, you earn the same amount of money as me. You work the same amount of shifts as me. You CAN live my life if you want to, you just gotta do it". And then I realised that she was right. If I really want to go to a festival so bad, I should just do it. And who cares if I am not too fond of the lineup? It's about the experience, and I might just become a fan of some bands. SO, I am going to check out all the summer festivals, and if there is one that is still on while I'm in Australia, and is decent, IMMA GO! WEEEEOOOEWWWWW.
