I'm on both sides of the fence

Hello everyone,

Well, today was the English exam. I was pretty nervous beforehand, but my nerves flew away. It was an alright exam, not too hard, not too easy, just right…I guess. It’s so hard to know if you went well in English, because really, it is open to interpretation. In fact, it’s unfair that it has to be assessed, English should be a free subject, and students should be open to tackle it in any away the like. We should not just be obliged to write in a certain way to obtain optimal marks, if someone is inarticulate, and they write in that fashion, well so be it, that is just how they write.

ANYWAY, this is totally not why I am posting.

I actually wanted to talk about judgment today. As humans, we can make judgments about people without really knowing the facts, and it really sickens me. I’m not saying that I don’t judge people, because that would be a lie. What I am saying is that people develop such quick opinions of others before they get to know the real truth, and then it is too late, the person’s feelings are already hurt. People can be so mean, especially when a large group of people develop the same judgment about a particular person, and tend to gang up on that person, without even knowing the truth behind that person.

Also, people can be so quick to assess someone’s behaviour, like “omg, I can’t believe how selfish she is” or “yeah I heard that he can be pretty aggressive”, but have they looked at themselves? I’m sure we have all been selfish or aggressive in certain situations, how dare we place judgment on someone else and act superior, ESPECAILLY when we don’t know all the facts.

Sorry, I am kind of ranting, but a certain incident happened today and it just makes me ashamed to be human when I witness humans judging others so harshly without knowing the truth, and totally ignoring all the positive aspects of that person.

  1. somehow I always feel that when you talk about seeing someone doing something bad, it's me. Self absorbed, but I feel self aware around you sometimes.

    Only because I respect you.

  2. you are ridiculous. if i thought you were being too harsh on your judgement of people, i would tell you! i wouldn't want you to end up like the people i am talking about.

you need not feel self aware around me!
