I'm so happy, cause today I found my friends.

So I got a JB Hi Fi voucher for Christmas. So, you know, I'm just casually walking into JB just browsing the C.Ds. I come across one entitled: "Nirvana: Greatest Hits" and I'm thinking "Yeah, I like a few of their songs, I have a voucher, why not?". It was the best decision I've made this year. Fo' real.

Now I get why their popularity has not died down years after the band ended. They are just simply amazing. I know the album I got was a "Greatest Hits" one, but every single song is just so amazing. And they truly started the whole "grunge" era during the 90s. They are such a historic band and I feel stupid for realising all of this only now.

This whole thing has got me fascinated with Kurt Cobain. What a genius. I adore his lyrics. You can tell they were written by a troubled mind, and that's what I love so much about them. You get to see the inside of a creative genius through the medium of music, and to me, that fully enables me to grasp the concepts and ideas that he is trying to express through such ambiguous lyrics. I think it's just clever and pure. The lyrics are just so crazy and far fetched that to a confused mind, it all makes perfect sense. I have been watching interviews, and Kurt has said that he hates it when people ask him about his lyrics because he always writes them at the very last minute and he says it's always just "jumbo" that comes out of his mouth, so he never knows what the lyrics mean. See? They are so raw and filled with pure emotions that just come out in the form of meaningless sentences, but yet fully express what is being felt.

Oh sorry, I don't mean to go all mumbo jumbo on you myself, I don't even know if this post makes any sense, but I just REALLY adore Nirvana right now. I'm gonna eventually own all the albums, you just wait and see. If you are a Nirvana newbie like I am/was, some of the songs that I really like are Smells likes Teen Spirit (but you've probably heard that one already), Lithium, Rape Me, Dumb, You know you're right, Sliver and Heart-shaped Box. Check them out if you are in a grungy mood :)
