Today was a fun filled day for a Paramore fan. Not such a fun filled day for a uni student cause uni was kind of boring and the biochem lecture made me lose all confidence in myself cause I barely understood what was happening.
I actually was kind of bummed about going to uni today because I knew Paramore was playing thier last show today for a special event callef FBR 15, or otherwise known as Fueled By Ramen's 15th Birthday (fueled by Ramen is Paramore's record label), and it was being streamed LIVE worldwide. But because of the time difference, it happened to be 9.30am our time: right in the middle of my genetics lecture. So I was pretty bummed I wouldn't get to watch, seeing as it was thier last show of the year and all.
But, to my wonderful surprise, when I got home, I found out they played a brand new song! So of course I youtubed it, and found it! "Renegade" is the name. It's pretty good. A bit predictable, nothing all that special, but I like it. The lyrics are pretty good. And very obvious of who it's about *coughjoshfarrocough*.
It starts at about 0.35
But, what got me more was this performance:
The song is called "In the mourning". It was never officially released as a song. In fact, it was a little acoustic 30 second song that Hayley posted on her tumblr a few days after the band split up. There wasn't even a guitar, just her own voice. Just a little something she wrote to vent her feelings out to the world. That post got a lot of praise from fans, so she got Taylor to help her write a guitar part to go with it, and they both recorded it at Taylor's house. Just on her mac using imovie. No fancy stuff. The song was a little longer, with 2 verses and a chorus and not so great quality haha (o dat movie). Everyone loved it and it got a lot of praise. But it still wasn't official or anything, and they didn't want to make it official, it was more of a personal thing and also it was only something Hayley had written, and not the whole band (except Taylor helped a little with the guitar).
Soon fans were downloading the audio and treating the song like a full release (including me...hence the piano cover and everything), so they started playing it live at shows. The guitar changed a bit again, and another chorus was added, but nothing that new.
Then today, there was the above performance. A whole new bridge was added, a little change in guitar, and a nice transition to "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac somewhere in the middle. The whole thing just overwhelmed me. The song is about finding strength to move on in tough times, and it's so moving to see from that little 30 second acappela thing Hayley posted, to this full large scale song with thousands of people singing along. Almost like as the song is growing stronger, so is the band. And when the cover of Landslide blended so well with the rest of the song, I just teared up. It was really moving, and was the stand out thing, even though a whole new song was played that no one had ever heard of.
They even played "My Heart", which is a song I'd thought they'd never play again after the Farro's left. That is also a moving song.
Hayley said at the end of that performance that they will be releasing "In the mourning" officially at the end of the year. That means studio quality! YAY! No more dodgy recordings on imovie. I feel really close to this song. It's like my baby now, I've seen it grow and be made into a full piece. And Paramore is the father. Yeah.
Gosh, this post is probably so boring to anyone that is reading it. I don't even know why I wrote it bahaha.
Okay, I have had three cups of tea an the caffeine is getting to me now. Bye!
